![]() “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.'” 40. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh rather, serve one another humbly in love. “You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. “Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner andas heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.” 39. A loving doe, a graceful deer- may her breasts satisfy you always, may you ever be intoxicated with her love.” “May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth. However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.” 25. ‘For this reason, a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.’ This is a profound mystery-but I am talking about Christ and the church. After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church- for we are members of his body. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. “Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. “The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband.” 24. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” 23. “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. ![]() Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” “But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.’ ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.’ So, they are no longer two, but one flesh. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.” 9. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. ![]() “Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. I will make a helper suitable for him.'” 8. “The Lord God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” 7. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. “There are three things that amaze me-no, four things that I don’t understand: how an eagle glides through the sky, how a snake slithers on a rock, how a ship navigates the ocean, how a man loves a woman.” “And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.” 5. If one were to give all the wealth of one’s house for love, it would be utterly scorned.” 4. Many waters cannot quench love rivers cannot sweep it away. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame. “Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” 3. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.”
